My Vaginal Delivery Story: A 30-Hour Journey of Pain, Strength & Becoming a Mother 🤍

My Vaginal Delivery Story: A 30-Hour Journey of Pain, Strength & Becoming a Mother 🤍

Every mother hears… “Normal delivery is better.”

But what no one tells you is…

Normal doesn’t mean easy.

This is my story—not to scare you, but to prepare you, to hold your hand through what this journey can truly feel like.

🌅 5:00 AM – The First Sign

It was early Saturday morning. Around 5 AM, I woke up feeling a slight pressure on my bladder.

When I went to the washroom, I noticed a thick, cloudy discharge—around 4–5 cm.

Somewhere deep inside, I knew…

“This could be my mucus plug.”

The beginning had quietly arrived.

⏰ 11:55 AM – My Water Broke

A gentle trickle… but a powerful moment.

At 11:55 AM, my water broke.

I didn’t panic. I stayed calm. Continued my routine.

Because throughout my pregnancy, I had prepared myself mentally for this day.

And then…

After 45 minutes, my first contraction came.

It was so mild… I almost missed it.

🕓 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM – The Slow Build

The second contraction came after 30 minutes.

Then slowly… they continued.

  • 30 minutes apart
  • Then 20 minutes
  • Then 15 minutes
  • Then 7 minutes

The rhythm had begun.

My body was preparing.

🚗 5:30 PM – The Journey to Hospital

With contractions becoming closer, I started to the hospital at 5:30 PM.

Amid traffic and chaos, I reached by 7 PM and got admitted.

Vitals were checked. Baby monitored. Then came the pelvic exam.

Only 1 cm dilated.

And something unexpected happened…

My contractions stopped.

Yes. Completely.

Something I had read before—change in environment can sometimes pause labor.

💉 10:00 PM – Pitocin Begins

I was given Pitocin to restart contractions.

Within an hour… they were back.

Stronger this time.

I began moving—hip sways, waist rotations—trying to work with my body.

🌙 12:00 AM – Pain Intensifies

By midnight, contractions took a steep rise.

I could still walk between them…

And my mom…

Her back massage became my biggest relief.

A little pressure on the lower back during contractions—something so simple, yet so powerful.

🕐 1:00 AM – Still 1 cm

Another examination.

Still 1 cm dilated.

Second dose of Pitocin was given.

This time, contractions became intense.

I could no longer walk or speak easily…

But I could still differentiate pain and relief.

😞 3:00 AM – Exhaustion Hits

Another check… still 1 cm.

Mentally exhausted. Physically drained.

This is when I chose epidural.

💉 3:30 AM – Epidural: A Turning Point

By 3:30 AM, I received the epidural.

And honestly… it felt like a blessing.

I slept for 2 hours straight.

For the first time in hours… my body relaxed.

🌅 5:30 AM – A New Phase

I woke up calm. Walked a little.

Still under epidural, I felt composed.

Though there was a strange pressure—like carrying a heavy stone in my pelvis.

An uncomfortable, hard-to-explain feeling.

⏰ 9:30 AM – Progress Finally!

Epidural was stopped.

Dilation check:

6 cm.

From 1 cm to 6 cm… while I rested.

It felt like a lesson:

Sometimes, things progress when we stop forcing and allow the body to do its work.

⏰ 10:30 AM – Almost There

Next check:

8 cm.

Finally, progress felt real.

I was moved to the labor room.

🕚 11:00 AM – The Final Stage

A team of 5–6 healthcare professionals surrounded me.

The pain was now like a rollercoaster.

I was exhausted.

At 12 PM, I was given electrolyte drink to regain energy.

Even drinking that felt like effort.

But my mom stood beside me… holding it for me.

🕧 12:30 PM – Assisted Delivery

Vacuum was used to help position the baby.

Not painful… but deeply uncomfortable.

An irritation that words can’t fully describe.

I instinctively pushed against it.

👶 The Final Push

I could no longer distinguish contractions.

There was only pain.

So I trusted my doctor… followed instructions.

Push when told. Breathe. Push again.

After 8–9 pushes…

I felt a sudden shift.

A weight moving downward…

And then…

My baby was born.

Followed by the placenta.

🤍 The Moment of Relief

Instantly… everything changed.

The weight I carried for 40 weeks… was gone.

There was relief.

There was silence inside my body.

And a deep, quiet realization:

My body trusted me… more than I trusted it.

💔 Postpartum Reality

I had 6 stitches.

They tore the very next day.

Sitting became difficult.

Feeding my baby required adjustments.

A donut pillow became essential.

These are the parts no one prepares you for.

💖 Final Words

If you are about to go through this…

Know this:

You will feel pain.

You will feel exhaustion.

You may feel like giving up.

But in that very moment…

You will meet the strongest version of yourself.

Because you are not just delivering a baby…

You are becoming a mother. 🤍
